Regional Council and Committee of the Whole Meetings

Regional Council is the main decision-making body for Halifax Regional Municipality.

Meetings are broadcast live on Eastlink Community TV and on Youtube. The only time meetings are not open to the public is when private and confidential information is being discussed in an “in camera” session. 

Regional Council normally meets bi-weekly on select Tuesdays; check the calendar to see the schedule. Committee of the Whole meetings are scheduled as required. The start time for the meetings varies and is noted on each meeting’s agenda which is available by noon on the Friday prior to the meeting date.

Council agendas and reports are available by noon on the Friday prior to the meeting date. Archived video is available by the Friday after the meeting. Draft minutes are available shortly after the meeting, and are updated once approved. 

Harbour East - Marine Drive Community Council

The four community councils, each consisting of five to six districts, consider local matters, make recommendations to Regional Council, and provide opportunities for public input. 

Harbour East – Marine Drive Community Council was established on December 3, 2012 by Administrative Order 48. It includes the following districts:
•   District 2 - Preston - Chezzetcook - Eastern Shore
•   District 3 - Dartmouth South - Eastern Passage
•   District 4 - Cole Harbour - Westphal
•   District 5 - Dartmouth Centre
•   District 6 - Harbourview - Burnside - Dartmouth East

The Harbour East – Marine Drive Community Council normally meets on the first Thursday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Check the calendar to confirm the exact date and time for each meeting.
